Half-Life - often abbreviated as HL or HL1 - is a sci-fi first-person shooter computer game developed by Valve Software, first released by Sierra Studios on November 19, 1998. Designed for PCs running Microsoft Windows, the game uses a heavily modified version of the Quake engine, called GoldSrc.
In Half-Life, players assume the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman, a recently graduated theoretical physicist who must fight his way out of an underground research facility whose teleportation experimentations have gone terribly wrong. On its release, critics hailed its overall presentation and numerous scripted sequences, and it won over 50 Game of the Year awards in 1998-99. Its gameplay influenced first-person shooters for years to come, and it has since been regarded as one of the greatest games of all time.
Two expansion packs by outside developer Gearbox Software have been released for the PC version: Half-Life: Opposing Force (1999) and Half-Life: Blue Shift (2001). The former, often shortened to OpFor or OP4, returns the player to Black Mesa during the events of Half-Life's storyline, but this time from the perspective of one of the soldiers in the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit sent to cover up evidence of the incident. It introduced several new weapons (notably the M249 SAW LMG and a Barnacle grappling gun), new non-player characters, both friendly and hostile (Otis the security guard and the "Race X" aliens, respectively) and new, previously unseen areas of the facility. The expansion is shorter than Half-Life, having 11 chapters to the original's 19.

Half Life Wall Hacks |
Wall Hacks
There are three major types of wall hacks: Transparent, Partial Transparent, and Sprite. Each one has a different method of achieving the wall hack effect of seeing people through walls. This gives the cheater the advantage of knowing were the enemy will be so that it's easier to kill them without them killing the cheater first. In Counter-Strike it gives the cheater the advantage of shooting through walls with powerful guns to kill the enemy. |

Half Life Aimbots |
Autoaim/Aimbots
An Aimbot is a program or script that aims at the enemy for the cheater. There are three different styles of Aimbots: Colored Models, Engine-Aim, and XQZ Style. Each method has a unique style of accomplishing the Aimbot effect. Aimbots are cheats because it has the computer aim for the cheater, and gives an extremely unfair advantage for the enemy, and is illegal in gaming leagues. |

Half Life Radar and Map ESP |
Radar & Map ESP
In the Half-Life modification Counter-Strike, at the top left corner of the screen is a radar. On it, during a normal, game, is displayed the location of all your teammates, hostages, and the bomb. The Radar ESP adds the location of the enemies too. It doesn’t have the location of every opponent, but when an enemy gets close, it shows up. With the integration of map overviews with CS 1.5, new hacks allow a small version of the map to be added to your screen, displaying the location of teammates and enemies. |

Half Life Anti-Smoke Hack |
Anti-Smoke Hack
Smoke Grenades release clouds of smoke that are very opaque, making it very hard to see through them, giving cover, or restricting vision. Most new hacks that hook the Half-Life engine prevent the smoke from being displayed. |

Half Life Crosshairs |
Crosshairs
In some Half-Life modifications like Day of Defeat and Counter-Strike, certain weapons do not have crosshairs, such as un-zoomed sniper rifles, or some crosshairs don’t show exactly where the middle is, like Day of Defeat crosshairs. Most hacks that hook the Half-Life engine put their own crosshairs, showing exactly where the center of the screen is. |
