As you enter into game play of Tera Online you will notice that there are seven different races that have their own lore, history, and mindset. They are trying to fight their was back into existence as their enemies try to fight against it. The races include the Humans, the high Elves, the Castanics, the Amani, the Poporis, and the Baraka.
This post will tell you a bit about each race, and hopefully make your decision easier. I still don’t know which one I’ll play, so maybe it can help me as well.
The Amani race is known for their direct speech and action. They are honest and candid, but somewhat imperious. They gain the respect of many and admired by most. When the words come from an Amani’s mouth, more than likely it is going to be done, no matter what is said. They make the life of their enemies very difficult by being watchful and very slow to trust. This race is known to live in Kaiator, as Kai’s children.
The Baraka race is a more gentle natured race that believes in learning history of ever race and living in many cities. They have huge libraries of their own peoples writings and learning’s, as well as those of other races. They are pacifistic philosophers and not very weak at all being the kin of the Giants. This race can be found living in almost every area of the world.
The Castanics are very famous for their motto which is commitment to the federation but they are also very fiery and independent creatures. Their clan has several skills but is known for their artisans and crafters. When meeting one of this race they will try to negotiate and bargain, but always watch out because they are never the end of a bad deal. This race normally lives in Castanica located in Arun.
Elins are the divine “children” of the goddess Elinu, but do not mistake their waif-like appearance for innocence. Elin generals are among the world’s most fearsome. Due to their “childish” look, this race is quite popular among players, particularly in Korea.
The High Elves are quite unique, this race hide for over one thousand years to be able to come back out on top. They are not very trusting in the “New Ways” of the world, but they are content with having the seat within the Federation, even if they had to pay for it with their soldiers blood. Their home city is the city of Allemantheia.
The Humans were cursed in the beginning by their almighty god and left to travel the worlds without a piece of land to call home. They eventually learned the culture and crafts of the present races and decided to make a new meaning for their lives, thus creating the Federation of Valkyon. Their home city is the city of Velika.
The last of the races is the Popori, these non-human animal like beasts are small and very accustomed to not feeling like they matter; however, they are very curious, somewhat candid, not very compromising, and ferocious when dealing with their enemies. Learning is a hobby for them and they are very quick to pass judgment. Their home city is the city of Pora Elinu.
These races are very unique, they do not tend to unite with others, and their levels of trusting are very low. When conflict comes to call they are willing to stand their ground and not be sheepish over any blood shed. They all love to learn new things whether it be about other race’s cultures, the magical life of the world, or even how to kill their enemies quicker with more painful measures.
So the race choice can be pretty difficult. Apparently there are some racial abilities and hitboxes to consider as well, but they have long cooldowns and aren’t as important for most players. Still, I kind of like all races and can’t seem to decide which one to play personally. And I didn’t even mention classes: there are eight different ones, but for now I’m fairly certain I’ll go with Lancer despite them being the slowest leveling class: in my opinion they look the best with high-level enchanted gear, which is good enough for me. Although, Sorcerer and Mystic look really good as well…
Hopefully you’ll be able to make your decision faster than me, since the release date is rapidly approaching: May 1st.
